BREAKFAST WITH SANTA AND 

HOLIDAY SNOW FESTIVAL!

Get ready for the holidays and come join us for 
breakfast with Santa on Saturday, December 7th 
at the Arcadia Community Center, 365 Campus 
Drive, Arcadia, CA 91007. Breakfast with Santa 
is $10 per person and includes breakfast, photos 
with Santa (one photo ticket per child only) and 
holiday entertainment. There will be two options 
for breakfast: 8:30-9:30am (#10276) or 10:30-
11:30am (#10277). Registration is underway 
and space is limited. You can register by walk-in, 
mail-in or on-line, just go to the City’s website at 
www.ci.arcadia.ca.us under the Recreation and 
Community Services Department. The breakfast 
fills up quickly so get your registration requests 
in to assure your spot! For new registrants, please 
remember to include your proof of residency/
child’s birth with your forms and on-line submittals, 
if you have not already done so. This information 
is required and will delay the process if 
not provided.

The Holiday Snow Festival is free to the public 
and will also take place at the Arcadia Community 
Center on the same day from 9am-2pm. This 
event will feature holiday entertainment, crafts, 
trolley train rides, dual sled runs and two snow 
play areas. Delicious food from the popular Grilled Cheese Truck will be available for purchase from 
11:30am-1:30pm.

Santa will only be present at the Breakfast with Santa Event. Free parking is available at the Centennial 
Way Entrance to Santa Anita Race Track. There will be shuttle service to transport participants to and 
from the Community Center from 8:00am-2:15pm. In the event of rain, the Snow Festival will be held 
Saturday, December 14th. For more information please call 626.574.5113!

For the period of Sunday, November 10th, through Saturday, November 16th, the Police Department 
responded to 954 calls for service of which 136 required formal investigations. The following is a 
summary report of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period.

Sunday, November 10th:

1. Around 2:37 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Camino Real 
Avenue and Mayflower Avenue for a broken windshield and brake light. An investigation revealed the 
driver had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant and was under the influence of a controlled substance. 
He was also in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. The 40-year-old Hispanic male 
was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. 


2. At about 4:42 p.m., an officer responded to Michael Kors at the Santa Anita Mall, 400 South 
Baldwin Avenue, in regards to a theft report. Video surveillance revealed two female suspects and one 
male suspect concealed merchandise inside a used purse and exited the store without making payment. 
The suspects of unknown race appeared to be in their fifties. 


Monday, November 11th:

3. At approximately 12:22 p.m., an officer was dispatched to the 400 block of San Antonio Road 
regarding a residence check. The officer discovered unknown suspect(s) forced entry through a front 
window and ransacked the location. One shoe print was collected for evidence. 


A neighbor reported that an unknown subject rang her doorbell shortly before the victim’s alarm 
sounded. The subject, described as a Black female in her twenties, asked if she had seen her lost dog. 
The neighbor advised she had not and closed the front door. Within two minutes, she heard the alarm 
sounding next door. The neighbor also recalled seeing another Black female, approximately 30-years-
old, standing next to a burgundy colored sedan that was parked in front of her house. 

4. Shortly after 2:00 p.m., an officer conducted an enforcement stop on a vehicle for illegally tinted 
windows. The officer discovered the driver had an expired license. The 51-year-old Hispanic male was 
cited in the field without incident. 


Tuesday, November 12th:

5. At approximately 4:10 a.m., an officer responded to the 1000 block of Arcadia Avenue regarding 
a recovered stolen vehicle. A parking officer noticed the vehicle was left abandoned in the roadway with 
the doors unlocked. The vehicle was not stripped or burned and appeared to be in fair condition. A 
records check revealed it was reported stolen out of Altadena by the California Highway Patrol. The 
vehicle was later released to its registered owner. 


6. Around 5:38 p.m., an officer responded to Pavilion’s, 745 West Naomi Avenue, in regards to 
a theft report. A male subject entered the store, selected nine bottles of wine, and left without making 
payment. The suspect is described as White, approximately 25-years-old, 6’ tall, 170 lbs., wearing a blue 
long-sleeve sweater, blue jeans, and white shoes. 


Wednesday, November 13th:

7. Just after 2:10 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Santa Anita 
Avenue and Foothill Boulevard for a broken license plate lamp. The officer discovered the passenger, a 
37-year-old White male, was in possession of methamphetamine and a drug pipe. He was arrested and 
transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. 


8. Around 11:44 p.m., an officer responded to the Arcadia Police Department front counter 
regarding a mother wanting to make a report of lewd and lascivious acts against a child under fourteen 
years of age. An investigation revealed a 34-year-old Asian male masturbated in front of his 12-year-old 
daughter while watching television at home. He was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail 
for booking. 


Thursday, November 14th:

 

9. At about 5:47 p.m., an officer was dispatched to the area of Colorado Boulevard and Baldwin 
Avenue regarding a welfare check on a male subject lying on the ground. The officer discovered the 
subject was under the influence of alcohol and unable to care for himself. The 42-year-old Hispanic male 
was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. 


10. At approximately 9:44 p.m., an officer attempted a traffic stop on two vehicles racing westbound 
Duarte Road near Santa Anita Avenue. The vehicles were weaving in and out of traffic with a willful and 
wanton disregard for safety. One vehicle yielded to the traffic stop while the other vehicle drove out of 
sight. The driver, a 19-year-old male of unknown race, was cited in the field without incident and his 
vehicle was impounded for 30 days. 


Friday, November 15th: 

11. Just after 8:39 a.m., an officer was patrolling Arco Gas Station, 5 West Foothill Boulevard, and 
discovered a vehicle with expired registration. The officer made contact with the driver, a 39-year-old 
Hispanic male, and discovered he had an expired license and was in possession of methamphetamine. 
He was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. 


12. At about 4:52 p.m., an officer was dispatched to the area of Holly Avenue and Naomi Avenue 
regarding a welfare check on a woman standing on the corner of the street with an infant girl. An 
investigation revealed the woman left her home after an argument with her husband during which 
she aggressively scratched him on the shoulder. She was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City 
Jail for booking. The infant was released to the father. 


Saturday, November 16th:

13. Just after midnight, an officer responded to Eisenhower Park, 601 North Second Avenue, in 
reference to a group of juveniles creating a disturbance. The officer made contact with two 17-year-old 
Hispanic male subjects who explained they were “just hanging with friends”. The officer determined 
the subjects were in violation of curfew and loitering in the area unaccompanied by a parent or legal 
guardian. Both subjects were arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. 


14. Around 3:30 a.m., an officer was dispatched to the intersection of Baldwin Avenue and 
Huntington Drive regarding a stalled vehicle. As the officer approached the vehicle, he discovered a 
male subject was passed out in the driver’s seat with his foot on the brake. While the officer placed 
the vehicle in park and attempted to wake up the subject, he detected a strong odor of alcohol. Once 
awake, the driver declined preliminary alcohol screening. The 23-year-old Chinese male was arrested 
for Driving Under the Influence and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. 



CAROLS, CHOIRS, AND COOKIES

“Joy in This Place” will be the holiday music theme for a Carol-Sing/Cookie-Feast 
hosted by the Women’s Association of the Arcadia Presbyterian Church. Everyone 
is invited to taste some wonderful home-made Christmas cookies and sing favorite 
carols on Sat., Dec. 4, at 3:00 p.m.

Several magnificent choirs will be featured. Tabitha Henken will direct the combined 
choirs of Westminster Gardens, Royal Oaks Manor, and New Hope Presbyterian 
Church. The 77-voice Arroyo High School Choir will be directed by Jennifer Stanley. 
Pianist John Brunn will accompany both groups.

Ms. Henken will open the festivities with carols played on the church’s beautiful 
3-manual organ. A cantata, “Joy in This Place,” is the centerpiece of the choral 
offerings by the combined choirs. The program will conclude with everyone’s joining 
to sing Handel’s glorious “Hallelujah Chorus.” 

 This is a marvelous opportunity to usher in the holiday season, and to fill your heart 
and spirit with joyful music celebrating Jesus’ birth!
