PASADENA UNIFIED TO HOST EARLY EDUCATION EXTRAVAGANZA
Families, Community Invited to Learn about PUSD’s Preschool and Kindergarten Options
Pasadena, CA – The Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) invites families with
young children to explore the district’s preschool and kindergarten options at the
second annual Early Education Extravaganza on Wednesday, April 6, 2016, from
4 to 6:30 p.m. at Madison Elementary School. The Extravaganza will showcase
transitional kindergarten, preschool, and kindergarten opportunities, and feature
musical performances, student art displays, family reading and math activities,
summer “kinder prep” resources, and much more. Families can also register for
kindergarten and learn how to get ready for the first day of school.“The early years
of a child’s education set the foundation for growth and progress,” said PUSD
Superintendent Brian McDonald, Ed.D. “We invite families to come and discover
the world of opportunities in PUSD schools.”
For children turning three by September 1, 2016, PUSD Early Childhood
Education Programs offer high quality full and part day preschool during the
school year. Families of all income levels can apply and those families eligible for
state funding may receive services for free or for a low monthly fee. Before and after
school care is also available for school age children at Jefferson and Longfellow
Elementary. Please call (626) 396-5762, extension 10070, for more information.

birthdays in the fall, at seven campuses in 2016-2017: Jefferson Elementary School,
Longfellow Elementary School, Madison Elementary School, McKinley School,
Norma Coombs Alternative Elementary School, Washington Elementary STEM
Magnet School, and Willard Elementary School. Enrollment for transitional
kindergarten also takes place at the school of residence.
To be eligible for kindergarten in the 2016-2017 academic year, children must
be five years old by September 1, 2016. Families can register for kindergarten by
