ALVERNO HEIGHTS ACADEMY’S PERFORMING ARTS
DEPARTMENT PRESENTS THE DROWSY CHAPERONE

The show will run April 26, 27, and 28 at the Sierra Madre Elementary

School Auditorium

Sierra Madre, CA (April 19, 2018) – Alverno Heights
Academy is proud to present The Drowsy Chaperone on
Thursday, April 26, Friday, April 27, and Saturday, April 28
at 7:00 p.m. at Sierra Madre Elementary School Auditorium.

The Drowsy Chaperone is a musical with book by Bob
Martin and Don McKellar and music and lyrics by Lisa
Lambert and Greg Morrison. It is a parody of the American
musical comedies of the 1920s. The story concerns a
middle-aged, asocial musical theatre fan; as she plays
the record of her favorite musical, the (fictional) 1928 hit
The Drowsy Chaperone. The show comes to life onstage
as she wryly comments on the music, story, and actors.
A montage of songs from The Drowsy Chaperone was
performed by the Alverno cast at the Fullerton College High
School Theatre Festival in March 2018, where Alverno’s
production was ranked #18 out of 56 productions in the
musical theatre competition.

The main cast of The Drowsy Chaperone includes
junior Julia Vallen as Woman in Chair, senior Leila Moreno
as Mrs. Tottendale, junior Xander Penzato (St. Francis
High School) as Underling, senior Riley Luna (St. Francis
High School) as Robert Martin, senior Carson Christ (St.
Francis High School) as George, freshman Chris Johnson
(St. Francis High School) as Feldzig, sophomore McKenna
Lindheimer as Kitty, sophomore Madison Ramirez as
Gangster 1, senior Skylar Robinson as Gangster 2, junior
Ethan Qua (St. Francis High School) as Adolpho, senior
Sierra Curren as Janet Van De Graf, senior Sarah Lopez as
the Drowsy Chaperone, freshman Afton Okwu as Trix, and
freshman Anisa Lopez as the Superintendent.

Members of the ensemble and dance casts include:
freshmen Alexis Alvarado, Claire Cook, Vivian Gonzalez,
and Allie Salinas; sophomores Vianni Barzallo, Josie
Beltran, Maddie Petersen, and Denisse Recinos; juniors
Klarissa Barriga, Elisia Bendy, Kathleen Cramer, Caroline
Dragos, Maritza DiRito, Amanda Hill, Precious Perlas, and
Beatriz Rivas; seniors Vanessa Prata, Matilda Prole, Anica
Quizon, and Valerie Sanchez.

Alverno’s production of The Drowsy Chaperone is being
directed by Ms. Cynthia Cales P’12, Drama Director, with
musical direction by Ms. Mary Ekler.

Presale tickets to The Drowsy Chaperone may
be purchased from the Alverno office for $15 or on
BrownPaperTickets.com. Tickets will also be available at
the door on the nights of the productions for $20.

About Alverno Heights Academy

progressive Catholic, college preparatory school
dedicated to its mission of empowering each young
woman to be exactly the person she wants to be.
Located on the property of the former Barlow Estate

school. “Supporting CSArts-SGV demonstrates
an individual’s belief in the powerful combination
of arts and academics as a catalyst for students’
growth and development, and their continued
understanding of the importance of the arts in our
society,” said Associate Dean of Arts Stephen Cook.
