Sierra Madre’s EMERGENCY radio station is now accepting scripts 
for Public Service Announcements (PSAs) about community events. 
PSAs will be broadcast on the air at no charge. The station operates 
24/7 and can be heard at 1630 on the AM dial. 
Any local non-profit or non-commercial organization can have their 
event information broadcast to the public on Sierra Madre Community 
Information Radio. The station covers the city of Sierra Madre, plus 
surrounding areas of Pasadena, Arcadia, and Monrovia. 
Your event must: 
• Benefit a non-commercial or non-profit entity 
• Be open to the public 
• Be of general interest to local citizens 
Just write a Public Service Announcement that describes your event 
and e-mail it to radio@cityofsierramadre.com.

The Mt. Wilson Trail Race Training Group will be meet in 
Kersting Ct. every Saturday at 7:00 am beginning Saturday, Feb-
ruary 3rd through Saturday, May 19th.

 It is a free program and all levels are welcome, ages 14 and up! 


The Volunteer Sierra Madre 4th of July Committee is seeking nominationsfor the 2018 4th of July Parade Grand Marshal. The Parade will be held asalways the morning of July 4th.

Parade Grand Marshal Nominees should embody the spirit of SierraMadre, be an active volunteer in any of the local nonprofit organizations orin some way contributed to the betterment of Sierra Madre. Nominees may 
be an individual or volunteers or an organization.

Nominations must be submitted in writing by Thursday, April 26th andshould be sent to the 4th of July Committee, PO Box 1073 Sierra Madre CA91025 or emailed to 

4thofjulysierramadre@gmail.com. Nominations should be no more 
than 1 page but at least a paragraph explaining why the honor should begiven including contributions to the Sierra Madre community.

SIERRA MADRE POLICE BLOTTER 

March 4 to March 11, 2018

During this period, the Sierra Madre Police Department responded 

to approximately 316 day and night time calls for service.

Sunday, March 4

Sometime between 3/2/18 at 3:30 p.m. and 3/5/18 at 7:00 a.m., a resi


dential burglary occurred in the 300 block of W. Sierra Madre Bl. The 

unknown suspect(s) cut the window screen of a window located to 

the rear of the unit and made entry. The suspect(s) then stole property 

totaling approximately $5279.00 Case to Detectives 

Monday, March 5

Officers conducted a welfare check on a male sleeping on a bench on 

Kersting Ct. The male was in possession of alcohol and was unable to 

provide identification or give the officers his correct name or date of 

birth. The male was arrested for possessing alcohol as a minor and 

providing false information. The subject was transported to the Pasa


dena Jail where he positively identified through fingerprints.

11:26 p.m.
Officers responded to a call regarding a resident who had attempted 
to purchase tickets to sporting event from Craigslist. The resident 
sent the suspect $1000 cash and was given fake tickets to that event.
Case to Detectives 
Tuesday, March 8The victim of a phone scam came to the station’s lobby to file a report. 
The victim stated that she received a phone call from an unknown 
person advising that her grandson was in jail and in need of 
bail money. The victim mailed cash to the address provided and later 
discovered that her grandson was not in jail.
NOTE: This particular phone scam has been active for some time 
now, please verify any calls of this nature with relatives or authorities 
to determine if the circumstances are true before responding with any 
transfer of money to anyone.
