HAPPYREMEMBER & HONORMEMORIAL DAY PHILANTHROPIC CHECK DISTRIBUTION FROM THE SIERRA MADRE CIVIC CLUB In the City Council Chambers on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 the Sierra Madre Civic Club presented their grant checks to 13 organizations. All of the selected organizations met the club’s requirements. Certain groups are ongoing projects that the Civic Club supports, while others are a received a one time donation. A total of $ 15,500 was distributed and all requests enhance the quality of life in Sierra Madre. Requests ranged from funding “caterpillars” for second graders in SM Elementary School via the Creative Arts Group, helping to fund the Fletcher Fund for some of the repairs on the Mt Wilson Trail, partial funding of the electrical system for the new ventilation system at the SM Playhouse, funding replacement parts at the Convalescent Aid Society, the creation of the SM Wildlife Sanctuary City Coloring/Activity Booklet, rebuilding the SM Rose Float engine/cooling system, funding a month at the Helping Hands Community Food Bank, supporting the SM Library fund their Walk This Way activity and funding the kick off for the Summer Reading Program.
