Last Minute Rose Parade Float Preparations
Although weather reports are calling for rain today and Sunday, New Year’s Day is expected to have
sunny skies, perfect for this year’s Rose Parade. Float builders could not be more pleased with natural
conditions in their final preparations.
“The weather is ideal, it’s warm enough that our volunteers are comfortable but cool enough that our
flowers are going to do really well, said Ed Donnelly president of the South Pasadena Tournament of
Roses
Donnelly said that the back story of their float [South Pasadena] “Boogie Fever” (pictured) has a cargo
plane flying over the rainforest and then a vintage turntable falls from the sky with the song Boogie
Fever playing and all the animals, including a giraffe, snake, toucan, elephant and orangutan“are getting
down to the groove”

Tournament Partners with Vet Tix
Foundation for Rose Bowl Game
The Pasadena Tournament of
Roses is again partnering with
the Veteran Tickets Foundation
(Vet Tix) to provide tickets to
veterans of all eras and first
responders for the 2024 CFP
Semifinal at the Rose Bowl
Game.
Vet Tix, the Tempe, Arizona-
based national non-profit, has
worked with the Rose Bowl
Game since 2015 and partners
with thousands of venues
around the country. Every ticket
purchased or donated by Vet
Tix goes to verified members of
the military community or first
responders.
In the coming months, Vet Tix
will hit a staggering milestone of
distributing over 20 million free
event tickets to their 1.8 million
members.
“When we achieve this
extraordinary milestone of
distributing over 20 million
tickets in early January, we will
have been able to give back by
creating memories that will
last a lifetime like the Rose
Bowl Game to our VetTixers
and 1stTixers who’ve made
the sacrifices of service to our
nation and local communities,”
stated Michael Focareto III,
Navy veteran, Founder, CEO
of Vet Tix. “We can continue to
achieve our mission of ‘giving
something to those who gave,’
due to the generosity of amazing
donors like the Rose Bowl
Game. We are grateful for their
continued support and our staff
for their daily efforts to make
us a 99% charity. Every dollar
donated goes to purchase more
tickets in underserved areas and
big events.”
Vet Tix has more than 20,000
donors who believe in their
mission. Donors include the
live music industry, sports
leagues and teams, motorsports
organizations, college athletics
programs, performing arts and
family-oriented entertainment
organizations, individual
entertainers, and private donors.

Volunteers finish one of the most iconic roses seen every New
Year's Day, since 1985. The large rose placard will again be put
on the side of the Norton Simon Museum across from TV corner
near the beginning of the parade route. The rose is built and
decorated in two halves before being hung from the side of the
