COMMUNITY
EMERGENCY RESPONSE
TEAM
WHAT IS CERT?
Do you know what to do after a major disaster? One
of the ways is to make sure that you are fully prepared
before a disaster occurs. CERT’s free Basic Training
will teach you how to prepare yourself, your family
and your neighbors.
Sierra Madre Community Emergency Response
Team is a volunteer organization that provides free
emergency preparedness training to the community.
We train using FEMA guidelines and are affiliated
with the Sierra Madre Fire Department. This year’s
Basic Training program will be presented in the spring
of 2024.
In the meantime, you don’t need to be formally
trained to participate in our Team meetings. All are
welcome. We meet the 4th Thursday of the Month at
the Hart Park House. Our meetings consist of various
programs including reviews of our basic training, fire
department programs, CPR, First Aid and operating
amateur radio.
Next Meeting: Thursday, January 25th 7:00 P.M., the
SMFD will present their new extensive City-wide
disaster communication and evacuation program.
They’ll also assist you to program your phones to
receive this area-specific information. This is a must
for all of Sierra Madre.

CREATIVE ARTS GROUP
Creative Arts Group (CAG) is a vibrant nonprofit art
center founded in 1960. CAG provides a means for
discovering creative self-expression and developing
an understanding and appreciation of others through
the arts.
Creative Arts Group’s varied class schedule attracts
more than 2,000 students annually from Sierra Madre
and beyond. CAG’s Jameson Gallery exhibits original
art in a variety of media including ceramics, glass,
watercolor, jewelry, enamel, metal sculpture and more.
Additionally, a robust events calendar celebrates the
artists in our community. The Art Festival and Art
of the Garden events are fundraisers which support
our mission of offering enriching classes, education,
and artistic experiences to our community. Each year
our popular Art Festival brings together over 50 local
craftspeople and artists to display and sell their work.
All proceeds from the sale of items in the gallery go
directly back to funding the programs offered by
Creative Arts Group.

We do not have formal scheduled meetings, but keep the members informed via
