TOE TAPPIN’ TODDLER TIME ARCADIA POLICE BLOTTER
What better way to spend time with your toddler this summer thanvisiting the Library and hearing and sharing in some age appropriatestories and songs while also discovering some excellent read aloudstories to take home. While you are at the Library, visit the Parent/
Teacher resource center to find some fun activity books to trywith your child. There is everything from The Everything ToddlerActivities Book by Joni Levine to Crafty Kids: Fun Projects for Youand Your Toddler by Rosie Hankin.
Reading aloud to your child is one of the best ways to get yourchild kindergarten ready and to develop a love of reading. Noregistration is needed during the summer. This special storytimeespecially designed for ages 19-47 months of age will be offered at theArcadia Public Library this summer at two different times. There is
the Tuesday evening storytime at 6:30 p.m. beginning June 30 andthe Wednesday morning storytime at 10:15 a.m., beginning July 1.
These storytimes are weekly and will take place through August 5.

The Dragon Boat Festival is a folk festival celebrated in many areas ofsouthern China during the fifth lunar month of the year. The festivalremembers the story of poet and minister Chu Yuan (340-278BC)
and brings people together in celebration to bring health and goodluck to the community.
Come to the Hands-On Saturday program on June 20, 2015 at
10:00 a.m. at the Museum Education Center and be a part of thismirthful time of year by making your own lóng zh.u or lóng chuán(dragon boat), zi.ng b.o (sachet necklace), and eat sweet ch. zòng zi(sweet rice balls).

Exercise is a vital part of healthy living for everyone. For people withParkinson Disease it is an important component to maintainingbalance, mobility and daily living activities. Learn more aboutthe benefits of exercise and what exercises are the most beneficial
for individuals with movement disorders. This special healthpresentation is being provided by Arcadia Senior Services and itParkinson Support Group. The program will take place on Friday,
June 19, 2015, 1:30pm at the Arcadia Community Center, 365Campus Drive, Arcadia. Our guest speaker will be Rachel TabakTran PT, DPT. NCS. She will also discuss programs at the CasaColina Hospital and Centers for Healthcare, Azusa Center that isdesigned for those living with Parkinson’s disease to help improvespeech and maintain optimal levels of fitness.
This educational health presentation is for all individuals over theage of 50. If you have a movement disorder, have family members orfriends with Parkinson Disease this program provides informationon how Parkinson Disease can be influenced by exercise.

Have some summer fun, practice your reading, and come readaloud to a real live dog at the Arcadia Public Library on Saturday,
June 20 and Saturday, July 18 at 11:00 a.m. There will be a speciallytrained dog waiting just for you. This program is specially designedfor emerging readers just finishing kindergarten through fifthgrade and is made possible by the generous time and efforts of thePasadena Humane Society.

For the period of Sunday, May 31st, through Saturday, June 6th, the
Police Department responded to 893 calls for service of which 122
required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of
the major incidents handled by the Department during this period.
Sunday, May 31:
Just before 9:00 a.m., an officer responded to the 1000 block of SouthFifth Avenue regarding gunshots reported in the area. Officersdiscovered a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to historso. The victim was pronounced dead at a local hospital. Theinvestigation is ongoing.
At approximately 1:45 p.m., an officer responded to Sports Chaletat the Westfield Shopping Town, 400 South Baldwin Avenue,
regarding a theft report. Surveillance footage revealed two juvenilefemales concealed numerous items of merchandise in their pursesand exited the store without paying. The girls were found with stolenitems from various stores throughout the mall. The 16-year-oldfemale from Duarte and 15-year-old female from Monrovia werecited and released to their parents.
Monday, June 1:
At about 8:18 a.m., an officer initiated consensual contact with a
man in the Arcadia County Park, 405 South Santa Anita Avenue. Arecords check revealed the 43-year-old male from Rosemead was onprobation for possession of drugs. A search of the individual and hispossessions revealed methamphetamine and personal identifyinginformation of more than ten victims. The suspect was arrested andtransported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
At approximately 6:24 p.m., an officer responded to the Westfield
Shopping Town, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding an auto
burglary report. An unknown suspect smashed the driver’s side
front window and stole a shopping bag and phone charger from the
vehicle. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.
Tuesday, June 2:
Around 3:04 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the1000 block of South Golden West Avenue regarding a vandalismreport. The officer discovered an unknown suspect spray painted“BLINK” on the side of the apartment complex sometime duringthe previous month. No suspects were seen and no witnesses werelocated.
Just after 11:05 p.m., an officer conducted an enforcement stop ona vehicle in the area of Colorado Place and Huntington Drive fordriving with a broken windshield. Upon contacting the driver, theofficer discovered the 49-year-old male from Sun Valley was drivingwith a suspended license. The suspect was cited and released in thefield. His vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
Wednesday, June 3:
Shortly after 6:30 a.m., officers responded to LA Fitness, 1325 SouthBaldwin Avenue, regarding a battery report. Officers determined ahusband and wife were arguing when the female punched the victimtwice in the arm without causing injury. The 60-year-old female of
Los Angeles was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jailfor booking.
At about 4:12 p.m., an officer responded to Macy’s at the WestfieldShopping Town, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a petty theftreport. Macy’s loss prevention witnessed the 55-year-old female placemerchandise in a shopping bag and exit the store without paying.
The suspect was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail forbooking.
Thursday, June 4:
At approximately 11:06 a.m., officers responded to a residence in the300 block of East Lemon Avenue regarding an attempted burglaryreport. The victim stated she heard several knocks at her front doorfollowed by the sound of two suspects tampering with the windowscreen in her backyard. The victim yelled at the suspects causingthem to flee on foot.
Both suspects are described as teenage females. No vehicle wasseen. The investigation is ongoing.
Around 7:44 p.m., an officer conducted an enforcement stop ona vehicle in the area of Huntington Drive and Morlan Place forhaving expired registration. However, the license plate displayed thecurrent 2015 tag. The suspect admitted to unlawfully placing a 2015registration sticker on the vehicle. The 54-year-old male of San Pedrowas cited and released in the field.
Friday, June 5:
Just after 1:02 a.m., an officer responded to the Westfield ShoppingTown, 400 South Baldwin, regarding a stolen vehicle report.
The victim’s 1996 Acura Integra was stolen from the parking lotsometime during the previous evening. No suspects were seen andno witnesses were located.
At about 4:15 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 500block of East Sandra Avenue regarding a grand theft report.
An investigation revealed unknown suspect(s) cut the lock totwo mountain bikes that were secured inside the carport. Theinvestigation is ongoing.
Saturday, June 6:
Just after 10:09 a.m., an officer investigated a case of vandalism atArcadia High School, 180 Campus Drive. The officer discovered anunknown suspect used black spray paint to write “LYFK” on a blockwall just east of the AHS tennis courts. No suspects were seen and nowitnesses were located.
At approximately 2:46 p.m., an officer responded to the frontcounter of the Arcadia Police Department regarding a missingchild report. The child, a resident of San Marino, was dropped off atArcadia High School to take her SAT exam at 7:40 a.m. She was notat the school when her father returned to pick her up at 12:30 p.m.
A follow up investigation determined that the child had run awayand was not a victim of a crime in the City of Arcadia. As such, theSan Marino Police Department assumed investigation of the case.
On June 9th, San Marino Police Department reported the child hadbeen reunited with her family.
OUTDOOR ADVENTURE DAY CAMP AND SPORTS CAMP!

The Recreation and Community Services Department offersthe Outdoor Adventure Day Camp at Wilderness Park with10 weeks starting June 17th to August 21st. There are still
some spots available for all weeks of day camp but hurrybecause they are filling up fast. Each camp features a varietyof fun summer activities for youth ages 5-12.
The Sports Camp is held at Dana Gym, 1401 S. FirstAvenue, Arcadia and offers three weeks starting August3rd to August 21st. Weeks one and three are for youth ages6-10 and week two is for youth ages 11-15. There is limitedspace in the sports camps as well! This camp utilizes theschool’s athletic facilities and features a variety of fun sportsactivities for youth including swimming, flag football,
basketball, softball, soccer, volleyball and other fun group
games. Each week there are two excursions and two swim
days.
Both day and sports camps are $110 per week except forweek one of day camp ($65).
