A TASTE OF ARCADIA

5:30-9pm

LA County Arboretum, Arcadia

The Arcadia Chamber of Commerce wants
to tell you the story of a fund raiser that
was born some 35 years ago, and has now
grown to become Arcadia’s signature event:
Taste of Arcadia, held on a Monday evening,
September 20th at 5:30 pm at the historic and
beautiful Southern California landmark –
the LA County Arboretum.

Taste of Arcadia began as a yearly modest
cocktail & appetizer evening, with a few
hundred guests attending. Held at various
venues, including backyards, this event has
had a variety of titles over the last three and
a half decades (you may remember it as the
“Wineshed Mixer”.) At one time, it was also
held in the infield of Santa Anita Park and
raised money to build the Arcadia float for
the Tournament of Roses Parade on New
Years Day. When interest in a float faded,
interest in a community event did not, and
the event was reborn.

To bring you up to date, under the able
guidance of Chamber member Bob Kenz,
local Robeks Juice owner, Taste of Arcadia
has emerged as a true destination event,
relocating in September of 2000 to the
LA County Arboretum. Exploding to
1200 delighted guests, not only do those
attending eat, drink, dance, and are
entertained under the stars, part of their
ticket price is designated to 3 local non-
profit organizations….this year, the Foothill
Unity Center, the Arcadia Chapter of The
American Red Cross, and The Arboretum
Foundation. Piggy-backing onto these
donations for the last several years is Arcadia
Host Lions Club, who also present a check
to the beneficiaries.

Chamber member Verena Somer, of “the
SERVICE advisors”, stepped up as Taste
of Arcadia Chair starting in 2009, and is
working to bring us an even more fabulous
event in 2010. We’ve introduced some NEW
features this year including “The Roost”,
a wine, beer and martini- tasting nook,
that you’re going to love! Along with Bob
and other hardworking Chamber member
volunteers, Verena is sure to make this year’s
event a resounding success.

We want to give a very special thank you
to this year’s GOLD sponsor, Merrill
Lynch located at 801 West Huntington
Drive in Arcadia. Additional sponsors are
Westfield, Santa Anita, and Oak Tree Racing
Association.

The event starts at 5:30 pm, but, we have
some very special “pre-show” entertainment
- the Arcadia High School drumline –
performing at the gate at 5:15 pm. So, meet
your friends, taste delicious food, wine, ales
and martinis from over 35 restaurants and
beverage providers - and boogie to the
sounds of COLD DUCK!

Unlimitedtickets - $45. Door $55.
